Spirits of the past: 7 iconic scents that loved the icons of beauty of the XX century

Marilyn Monroe: Rose Geranium, Floris

Marilyn Monroe was in love with Chanel No. 5 and admitted that a few drops of these spirits - that's all she puts on the bed. But the film star had another secret favorite scent. In 2002 it was reported that a perfume called Rose Geranium from Floris was delivered in bulk to her Beverly Hills hotel.
It was Marilyn who wore it during the filming of "Only Girls In Jazz" (1959). Star fragrance composition: rose, geranium, citronella and sandalwood oil. Unfortunately, Rose Geranium was removed from production, but it is still available as bath essence.
Vivien Leigh, Jacqueline Kennedy: Joy, Jean Patou

Although Jacqueline Kennedy had several favorite flavors, her favorite was classic Joy by Jean Patou, who for years was known as the most expensive perfume in the world. And this is not surprising, since only 30 ml of tart floral aroma required more than 10 thousand jasmine flowers and 300 rose buds. This precious perfume was created in 1929 (the beginning of the Great Depression), and it was a certain risk, but the aura of prestige and luxury worked - Joy became one of the most successful fragrances and received the title "Scent of the Century" at the Fragrance Foundation's FiFi Awards in 2000 .

Another fan of Joy by Jean Patou was Vivien Leigh, who was fragrant like a violet on the set of "Gone With the Wind" because of this fragrance.

Elizabeth Taylor: Bal a Versailles, Jean Desprez

Oriental fragrance with notes of rosemary, orange blossom, vanilla and sandalwood was created in 1962 and subdued Elizabeth Taylor. It was this perfume that the actress wore during the filming of Cleopatra. Interesting fact: one bottle of Bal a Versailles star gave Michael Jackson, and he used it all his life. And Elizabeth became the first woman to release her own perfume line: the iconic perfumes Forever, Passion and White Diamonds.

Grace Kelly: Fleurissimo, Creed
On the day when Grace Kelly became the princess of Monaco and went down the aisle (1956), her bridal bouquet complemented the magical scent of Fleurissimo. Notes of Florentine iris, Bulgarian rose, bergamot and tuberose turned the bride into a fragrant flower. The perfume belonged to the respected Creed perfume house and were ordered specifically for Grace Kelly.
Princess Diana: Quelques Fleurs, Houbigant

Princess Diana, on her wedding day (1981), was fragrant no less than Grace Kelly — she had the beautiful floral fragrance of Quelques Fleurs with chords of rose, jasmine and tuberose. Also, the princess loved to wear Hermès 24 Faubourg perfume with notes of peach, orange blossom, gardenia and amber.
Audrey Hepburn: Givenchy, L'Interdit

In 1957, Hubert de Givenchy created the fragrance L'Interdit especially for his muse - Audrey Hepburn. It combines notes of mandarin, peach, violets, strawberries, lily of the valley and jasmine. Audrey did not allow Hubert to release this perfume on sale for three years. “Do not even expect me to share this miracle with anyone!” Said the actress. But in 1960, L'Interdit still appeared on the shelves and instantly became a legend: all the girls wanted to smell like Audrey.
Rita Hayworth: Shalimar, Guerlain
Hollywood star Rita Hayworth was a fan of the famous oriental fragrance Shalimar, created in 1925 by Jacques Guerlain. He simply threw vanillin into already existing compositions - Jicky and Lanvin Arpege. That is how the perfume hit, which is the favorite fragrance of many women to this day.
