The stomach is like a walnut: is it true that it decreases if you follow a diet?

Unfortunately, this is a myth, experts say. The stomach is really elastic: it can, for example, stretch a little to accommodate a hearty festive dinner, but then it returns to its normal size. And it does not get smaller, even if you eat like a bird!

If you believe that the stomach may decrease, it means that it is lower in people with normal weight. However, scientists refute this: the stomachs of adults about the same size! The human body continues to function even with a lack of energy, but at the same time it “hopes” that it will be fed as it should.

If it is very little, you will often feel hunger - this is another law of the body. The hormone ghrelin will be released into the blood, forcing you to eat something, and the body temperature will drop slightly and metabolism will slow down so that energy is consumed more slowly.

To effectively lose weight, it is not necessary to severely restrict calories: it is likely that the body will quickly regain everything back. It is better to reduce portions and their energy value gradually and not to force the body to work in an emergency mode. And, of course, do not hope that the stomach will be the size of a walnut!
